| More Dependent Upon God
The more we depend upon God, the more He can and will depend upon us. Depending upon Him makes us dependable. The more we depend upon God the more authority He will give us. We never lose our need to humbly depend upon Him.
Luke 19:17: And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.

Isaiah 38:2: Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD.
It seems like troubles rarely come one at a time. It seems like when it rains it pours. That was certainly the case for King Hezekiah. Not only was the Assyrian empire on the march toward his kingdom, God also told him that he was going to die of his illness. Isaiah 38:1 says, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live.
I*ve always been interested by verse 2 where it says, Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD. Here*s a man who had all the troubles of his life coming to him at once. Here*s a man whose back was against a wall. Yet when his back was against the wall, his prayers went up to God.
Now here*s the thing that caught me: all this trouble, all these multiplied problems, were coming to a man who had no one higher up in the kingdom to whom he could turn. When you were a child everyone told you what to do. You had teachers, parents, aunts, uncles, and even older cousins to whom you could look to take the responsibility. But the older you get, the more other people look to you. If you*re not careful you can come to a place where you feel as if there*s no one else to whom you can turn. It*s important to remember that that is not true.
Here*s a very important lesson we can learn from Hezekiah and his prayer to God: the more authority you have, the more dependent you should be upon God. The Bible tells us that Hezekiah prayed and wept, and God answered his prayer. God said in Isaiah 38:5-6, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years. And I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city. What a comfort to know that no matter how high you rise or how much responsibility you have, there is a Superior, a Father, a God to whom you can turn, and certainly you should.
